Have you ever seen on cartons, bottles or cans 100% fruit juice concentrate? Do you read the labels on juices and smoothies and it says 'made with 100 per cent pure fruit'? Do you often find these juices in the chiller cabinets of supermarkets and you think they are fresh?
Please don't fool yourself into thinking that you are getting 100% fruit versions, full of nutrients because I'm sorry to say, you aren't. The fruit juices and drinks can have as little as 5 per cent actual fruit juice. The rest can be made with water, sugar or sweetener and other preservatives with hard to pronounce names.
In order for juice to stay on the shelves of the supermarket for a while it needs to go through a process called heat treatment. During this process all of its nutrient will be killed and then it's ready for long-distance shipment to the supermarkets. Unfortunately they not only contain sugar but also chemicals to keep them 'fresh' for months.
It's also funny that the 100% fruit and vegetable juices with no preservatives often read 'enriched with added vitamins and minerals'. Manufacturers of these fruit juices add some vitamins and minerals but almost but not quite always synthetic vitamins and minerals. Why add them to all those cartons, bottles and cans anyway? Why are they not in there in the first place?
Also you will see lots of labels which read no sweetener, flavourings, artificial colours, preservatives. What does this make you think?
The advantage of real fruits and vegetables is that you know for 100 per cent sure that you will get 100% fruit and not synthetic fruit or whatever lab-fruit. This fruit is really full of vitamins, anti-oxidants, phytochemicals (nature's finest) and minerals and will guard you from lots of diseases and gives you all the energy you need.
